One of the most historic buildings in the city, the Tobacco Station of Katerini operated since 1933 as a branch of the Tobacco Institute of Greece. In 2013 the space was given to the “Doctors of the World” where together with the Voluntary Action Group of the prefecture of Pieria began social activities. In 2018 the space was granted for 25 years by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food to the Voluntary Action Group of Pieria prefecture. In addition to the operation of social structures, the space has been transformed into a cultural center run by volunteers and a number of events are organized, including the popular “Christmas Village of the World”.
